You’re making history today!
Jumpstart Genealogy, LLC is dedicated to researching and preserving family histories by working with clients one-on-one or in small groups. We are particularly excited to find new ways to engage the next generation of genealogists by integrating genealogy-based curriculum into schools or homeschool programs.
Keira Murphy is an educator, genealogist, and the founder of Jumpstart Genealogy, LLC. She believes that learning genealogy research skills is integral to learning all history and can be adapted for all academic disciplines. “Teaching History Through Genealogy: One Generation at a Time.” is a two-year curriculum that exposes students in grades 3-12 to the importance of learning about their ancestors and their history, generation by generation. This course has been very popular as a history elective in Upper School with portions of it adapted for lower grades. Keira is also an adjunct faculty member at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, NC, teaching both beginning and intermediate genealogy courses.
Jumpstart Genealogy, LLC was founded in 2017 to support teachers and schools looking for innovative ways to integrate genealogy concepts in the classroom. The mission has expanded to educating everyone, regardless of age, who is interested in learning about their family history. We support those who wish to become members of a genealogy-based historical society, assist those with analyzing DNA results to help find an unknown person, and collaborate with legacy consultants to provide families answers to their questions regarding familial wealth.
